Our Theory Of Action
To focus our School Learning Plan, we have developed a Theory of Action. A Theory of Action is an ‘If…then…’ statement that attempts to tie interventions to results. Our Mamquam Theory of action is below:
Diving into the data we have seen a change in sense of belonging and increased anxiety coupled with a decrease in healthy habits. The Government Road "street" data also indicates that this is causing a change in the resiliency of our students, and their ability to work through problems.
Theory of Action:
If we as a staff focus on building a stronger sense of belonging and positive identity of who we are as a Mamquam Community (staff and students), then we will see positive outcomes in our students capacity to be creative and critical thinkers.
why....
We know that if we work together (common instructional strategies), use a common language (Raven Values), and have visible and accessible expectations for students (that extend beyond our school walls), then we will make it easier for students to feel a sense of connection and accessibility to this place and their learning.
If students feel more connected to this place, then they will feel safe to be BRAVE and take academic risks with their learning.
If they are BRAVE with their learning, then they will be ale to think more creatively and critically about content learned in school, and develop these comptneacies.
