School based learning opportunities:
A Mamquam Musical
This is a prime example of how we at the school can use arts infusion to create and deepen learning opportunities. Art help us frame our experiences in this world, and provides a scaffold and framework for our learning.
Eportfolios
MQE students will be working on their e-portfolio as a reflective tool to build create and critical thinking.
Students will need to :
learn how to work with the MAP e-portfolio (Full student involvement in working with MAP) in the classroom and be reflective of the process of learning and documenting their work.
recognize why their learning is important to them.
The Raven
The school is continuing to work with Art Harry and the Squamish Nation around utilizing the Raven as part of the Mamquam Elementary school identity.
The Raven is a symbol of knowledge and creativity. This corresponds to our school learning plan and our focus on art based infusion to support creative and critical thinkers.
The Raven is known as a catalyst for change – and helps us in learning valuable life lessons.
In our journey towards truth and reconciliation having Art (a local to Kowtain) developing a symbol of identity to Mamquam Elementary school is a powerful step in creating a sense of purpose and connection to place for our students and staff.
