District 308 Fine Arts Fest Choir Contest - 2023
All Choirs Perform
Site: Thompson Junior High School
Saturday, March 2, 2024 is the date of this year’s Oswego Junior High Fine Arts Festival. This is a day on the calendar we consider one of our most important performances of the school year. All bands and choirs from Traughber, Thompson, Plank, Murphy and Bednarcik Junior Highs will be performing at Traughber JHS on that day. It is a great celebration and opportunity to showcase our students.
In addition, and most important, all performances will be critiqued by a panel of adjudicators.These professionals have been hired to evaluate each choirs performance and provide constructive comments to the directors and students.All of the junior high choir directors ask that these judges:
hold us to the highest standards of musical performance
give comments on whether the music performed is of appropriate difficulty
give ratings on level of mastery of vocal skills in the areas of balance, blend, dynamics, pitch, rhythm and expression.
comment on the quality of literature being performed
judge each ensemble based on standard choir criteria
Parents and family members are always welcome and invited to listen to the performance.After the performance, students will receive comments and critique from one of the judges (the “clinic” portion of the festival). There will be a portion of the clinic during the performance time and a closed portion of the clinic in another space.
All choirs will be in uniform for their performance (choir shirt and solid black from the waist down).
The Fine Arts Festival is a required performance and will count towards part of the 3rd quarter grade.
