Here are a few questions that students ask most about choir:

What if I am interested in choir, but don’t think I can sing?

Everybody can sing! Choir is the place to learn how to do it better. Your voice will develop the more you sing and use your voice. Singing in the choir will give you confidence and build your self esteem.

I want to be in choir, but what if none of my friends are?

Invite your friends to join with you!!! Choir is also the perfect place to make new friends! Also, Choir is one of the biggest classes in jr. high. You’re bound to know someone!

How many concerts will we have?

There are 4-5 required concerts, a small ensemble night; and other opportunities for you to sing throughout the year, such as assemblies, and various extracurricular singing clubs.

What kind of music does the choir sing?

WE SING EVERYTHING! We sing a great variety of music: folk, patriotic, classical, show tunes, pop, cultural songs, songs in different languages, and spirituals. There will be opportunities for solo and small group singing too!

What will I learn?

You will learn to read the notes and rhythms of music. This skill actually increases language art skills, helps math scores, and is a fantastic social studies boost. Many songs are written in foreign languages as well!

Additional Information

The Sixth Grade Choir is an elective ensemble that provides each student an introductory experience in singing in large and small groups.

Choir is designed to help all students improve their own personal musical knowledge and singing skills. Each student can strive to reach their own potential in this group setting.

As a choir member, students will get the chance to sing a great variety of musical styles, from classical styles to pop or jazz, and more modern types of vocal music.

Through the teamwork involved in daily rehearsals and the excitement of performance, students really get to know new people and friends. Choir can be a great place to meet future friends!

Can I join both band and choir? YES! YES! YES! We have a lot of students who are in both band and choir. Just sign up on the website.
