Lesson 3: Runoff, Erosion and Pollution
The Dirt on Dirty Water
The Dirt on Dirty Water
What Students Will Learn:
How rock, sediment and soil are transported through the natural process of erosion, the cause and effect relationship between humans and erosion, and how pollution moves through watersheds.
We'll use this space to share teaching tips that are shared with us (via feedback) from other teachers!
Additional Resources:
A fun photo presentation to click through challenging students to select which "this or that" situation is a better option for preventing/controlling soil erosion.
A simple demo experiment that explains why erosion occurs more slowly when soil is paired with leaf debris or plants.
An experiment that introduces the concept of weathering.
