Welcome

Dear Parents/Carers and families,

I have been so incredibly proud of our students this half term, Year 11 and Year 13 in particular. Their focus, hard work and resilience has been exceptional. This is the first time in three years that public examinations are being sat and the students have embraced their preparations, the support and interventions that staff have gone above and beyond to give and the exam practices and protocols with such determination and drive. I wish every single student the very best of luck for the rest of the exam season and am sending parents/carers and families positive vibes and bucket loads of patience as you continue to support your children so amazingly well during this pressured period of time for them!

Enjoy reading some of the brilliant opportunities and experiences that students have been involved in over the last few weeks-from visiting and touring the highest court in the UK, breaking sporting records, setting up bereavement support groups, representing the academy at regional Young Enterprise finals, raising more money for charity and learning more about what it means to step beyond their comfort zones and embrace challenge.

I absolutely love the new sports that 2012 have invested in and can say, personally, having trialled Pickleball and Disc Golf with 2012 myself last week that they are epic! I loved both sports but have to say that Pickleball for me was the best - I loved it and I know that so many of our students will too!

All of these experiences are amazing opportunities for our young people and there are so many more being organised for the coming months and into next academic year. Read our next edition to hear all about the trip to America and the trip to Euro Disney leaving next month and how plans are progressing for the trip to Wales next year!

There is not a day that goes past where I am not taken aback by incredible things that I see, hear and think - both in and outside of the classroom. Working with young people is an absolute privilege; they are the next generation and it is our responsibility as families, communities and school together, to give them the best, educationally, socially and culturally. This edition captures just a fraction of that incredible work.

Have a really lovely half term break everyone and take care.

Best wishes,

Ms Croft

Associate Principal
