Humanutopia Trip

On Tuesday 19 April a group of year 9 students travelled to Greenwich to participate in an event alongside a number of other local schools in collaboration with Humanutopia, a youth empowerment organisation.

The session was run by Graham, the founding director of the organisation who was an amazing facilitator, encouraging students to step beyond their comfort zone and embrace challenge. Through the sessions students worked with their peers from the Academy and other local schools developing an appreciation of their unique role in society, the importance of making appropriate choice and embracing difference. Graham was hugely positive about the students and their fantastic contributions throughout the day. We are looking forward to further developing our relationship with Humanutopia and opportunities for similar events in the future so that even more students are able to benefit from the impactful sessions.

The day will supported students to: have the time and space to reflect on their lives; better understand their own behaviour and wellbeing; realise that they are not alone by meeting other young people; have a platform and forum on which to share their views and express themselves in a safe environment; receive tools by which to take greater control of their life and make positive changes; feel more positive about their future;
