Did you find a website or online resource that you'd love to use with your students? This page provides you with information on how to evaluate the resource for student use and then submit a request to unblock it.
Before requesting to unblock an online resource for student use, it's essential to thoroughly vet its suitability. While a resource may initially seem educationally beneficial, a comprehensive evaluation ensures it aligns with our standards and student safety. Utilize the Pre-Assessment Checklist to critically evaluate the resource. This tool will help you determine whether to proceed with an unblock request, use the resource for display purposes only, or seek an alternative.
A critical aspect of evaluating any online resource is assessing its student data privacy implications. If the resource requires the sharing of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) from students, a Student Data Privacy Agreement (DPA) will be required.
Key indicators that may necessitate a DPA include:
The resource requires student logins.
Students are prompted to "register" or "sign up" for an account.
The resource enables teachers to upload student rosters for progress tracking or other functionalities.
Please be aware that if a Student Data Privacy Agreement is determined to be necessary, your unblocking request may experience a delay while the agreement is established.
