MEALS

STUDENT MEALS: SCSD has partnered with Redwood City Schools to offer meals to ANY CHILD under the age of 18. The following schools in Redwood City are giving away packs that contain breakfast and lunch** items along with your choice of milk. The kids don't have to be with you. All students are eligible for FREE MEALS under this program and no proof of income is required. (Note: Wednesdays' meal packs will include enough for Thursday and Friday too.)

  • Effective 6/30/20, Roosevelt is closing due to low meal counts.

  • Effective 7/1/20, Garfield and Hoover will remain open.

    • Dates Open: July 1-August 18 (Tentative end date if school start date changes)

    • Days Open: Monday-Wednesday

    • Serving Times: 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

    • Meals Served: Breakfast and Lunch

    • # of Meals Served: 7 days' worth of meals will be distributed

Free Lunch Service at East Palo Alto Library

Families can now visit the East Palo Alto Library on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 1 PM to receive free lunches and snacks as part of the Summer Food Service Program. Priority will be given to families with children ages 18 and under. Our meal service will last as long as supplies last each day. We look forward to supplying a nutritious lunch to you and your family — don’t forget to pick up your FREE Summer Learning Challenge books while you’re there!

In light of the current events, you may now qualify for Free or Reduced price Lunches (F/RL) with the school district, which may entitle you to additional benefits being offered in our community. If you would like to submit an application to confirm eligibility, please complete this form and submit it to Lisa at lceragioli@scsdk8.org.

There are also NEW P-EBT CARDS that get you extra money for food. Check out the information and contact Lisa at lceragioli@scsdk8.org if you have any questions about how to apply for this new program.

FAMILY GROCERIES:

San Carlos residents can GET GROCERIES from the CARING CUPBOARD located at the San Carlos Adult Community Center, 601 Chestnut Street, San Carlos, CA 94070 (650) 802-4384 recreation@cityofsancarlos.org

  1. Determine if you meet the eligibility requirements (includes if students are eligible for free school lunches)

  2. Call (650) 802-4384 to reserve a bag (leave a message and your call will be returned with a scheduled pick up time on Wednesdays).

  3. Bring your completed application with you when you pick up your weekly grocery bag (including Proof of Residency (e.g. Driver’s License or PG&E bill).

HELP CENTERS

  • CITY OF SAN CARLOS helplines are open and resources are available.

  • SAN MATEO COUNTY helplines are open and resources are available.

  • SAMARITAN HOUSE offers food, housing, childcare, health and dental support.

  • COVID-19 PUBLIC CALL CENTER: Call 211 for non-emergency, non-medical questions; 24 hours/day, 7 days a week They will provide food locations and other community resources anywhere in the Bay Area.
