Travis W. Bond is a graduate of Madison Southern High School in Berea, Kentucky. While attending MSHS he was a member of the high school band, marching band, jazz band, and pep band. During his time, the marching band won two state marching band championships in class A. He was a two year member of the All-Regional Symphonic Band, a four year member of the MSU Band Clinic, and two year member of the EKU Maroon Honor Band. After graduating from high school he attended the University of Kentucky to major in Music Education. While at UK he was a member of the saxophone studio of Miles Osland. He participated in several saxophone ensembles, flute choir, clarinet choir, concert band, symphonic band, jazz ensemble, lab band, and “The Wildcat Marching Band.”
After graduating from the University of Kentucky Mr. Bond started his teaching career at East Jessamine High School in Nicholasville, Kentucky. As an interim director of bands the concert band received a proficient rating while performing grade four literature. After leaving EJHS Mr. Bond accepted a position as director of bands in the Mason County School District where he stayed for two years.
Mr. Bond served fifteen years as director of bands at Montgomery County High School in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, where he was the director of the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Marching Band. During his tenure at MCHS he earned a Master of Music in Conducting from Southern Oregon University and a Master of Arts in School Leadership and Administration from Morehead State University. All bands in the program have received a distinguished rating in sight-reading and on stage at concert festival performing varied levels of music.
Currently he is beginning a new tenure at Scott County Middle School and SCHS as director and assistant director of bands respectively. He resides in Georgetown with his wife Jamie, and their son Colin.
