Year 11
Orientation Session - Years 8 to 11
On Thursday 30 January. 2020, the morning prior to the official start of the school year, there will be a mandatory orientation for all students new to Mount Scopus entering into Years 8 to 11.
This will be a one hour session between 10.00am and 11.00am during which students will learn more about the Secondary School structure and key personnel, meet their year level Coordinators, learn how to use the school diary, learn about the Mechanech (home room and pastoral care) program and the layout of the College. They will have the chance to familiarise themselves with the classroom locations and other specific facilities to help ease the transition process. Please note: students must bring their device with them so they can be logged on to the Scopus network, ensuring that it is charged up.
Students can come in smart casual clothing.
This session is for students only so parents may not remain at the College during this time.
An orientation session will be scheduled in the evening for parents of shortly after school commences next year. This provides the opportunity to meet the teachers and leadership team and to learn about the program for the year. You will be advised of the date closer to the time.
VCE Bridging Program
VCE Bridging Program will run the week commencing Monday 25 November. The program details are expected to be available the week prior. Unfortunately we are unable to confirm the timing of sessions for specific subjects prior to then.
Outreach Program
The Outreach Program participants represent Mount Scopus College and the Jewish community of Melbourne to non-Jewish students from a range of participating schools in Terms 2 and 3, following a number of training sessions in Term 1. Participation in the program benefits students in terms of their own Jewish identity, as well as honing their presentation skills. The program is coordinated by Rabbi Shamir Caplan. Ulpan - final information session
Any new students who will be joining Mount Scopus for Year 11 and who will be joining the Ulpan program will need to note the final information session prior to departure which takes place in early November. Families will be contacted directly by the trip coordinator.
