Alan Gatchell - Science 

Mrs. Evans is brand new to SCA! She holds a Master’s degree from Valdosta State University. She and her

husband have been happily married since 2020. Together they have a dog named Butler and a guinea

pig named Snowball. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and outdoor recreational sports.

Sloan Pitts - ELA

My name is Mrs. Pitts and I will be your ELA teacher this upcoming school year! I am so excited and thrilled to begin a new year with you. This will be my 6th year teaching middle school and 1st year at Scintilla. I also have been coaching cheerleading for 8 years and will be coaching the middle school cheerleading squad at Scintilla this upcoming season. I LOVE getting to know my students and all of their things so here are a few things about me! I was born and raised in Valdosta, GA, I’m married and have two children, Patton and Presley. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, watching sports, iced lattes, and the beach! I can’t wait to meet you and begin our year together!

Hannah Steel- Math

My name is Mrs. Steel and I am SO excited to teach your scholar 8th grade math. I look forward to watching your scholars continue to grow and make this the best last year of middle school. This is my 5th year at SCA and my 7th year teaching. I was born and raised in Valdosta and graduated from Lowndes High School. I am married with 3 children, Noa, Judah, and Erza. My favorite things are Disney World, early 2000’s playlists, and Chick-Fil-A!

Lissi Ferguson - Intervention Specialist

My name is Lissi Ferguson, I am the Special Education Intervention Specialist for grades 7-9. I am an Arizona native and love doing all things outdoors--swimming, hiking, biking, and tennis.  I moved to Valdosta a little over a year ago with my husband Garrett, our two year old son, GB, our two dogs and two cats. This will be my 8th year teaching and I am so elated to be back teaching middle grades!  I am looking forward to building relationships and am excited to work with families to support our scholar's unique abilities.
