Aboriginal business is everyone’s business. Being culturally responsive is the responsibility of every person working across our workplaces and learning environments.
Learning objectives:

The course will help you to develop your understanding and confidence. After completing the course you will be better able to:
identify whether sexual behaviour is likely to be developmentally appropriate, concerning or harmful
respond to sexual behaviour when it happens
record and report sexual behaviour
ensure safety and manage risk through using plans
work with parents, carers and other agencies.
There are scenarios for you to practice assessing and responding to sexual behaviour in:
early childhood (birth to 5 years)
primary school (5 to 12 years)
high school (12 years +).
While the scenarios are set in early childhood, primary school and high school settings, the setting does not matter. You can have a go at as many or as few of the scenarios as you want, in any of the settings. For example, if you work with children aged birth to 12 years, you might try the early childhood and primary school scenarios. If you only work with children over the age of 12 years, you might just have a go at the high school scenarios. Or, you can choose to complete all of the scenarios in all the settings for your own interest and learning.
Benefits of the course:
Helps you to follow the mandatory Sexual behaviour in children and young people procedure.
Includes film interviews with experts, interactive quizzes and scenarios to help you to develop your understanding.
Developed by subject matter experts.
Complete at your own pace.
Certificate for 2.5 hours professional development.
Once you’ve taken the course, it doesn’t stop there. There’s a range of information and resources to help you support the children and young people you care for.

To support your learning in supporting health needs for children in Family Day Care (FDC) and Respite Care Program (RCP) regular online and/or face-to-face training is provided.
At other times a recorded session is available to support your learning.
1. Prior to watching the video recording, have the following either printed or available on your device to type into:
a. slides handout
b. scenario question sheet
2. Watch recording, noting any questions or comments you have. The benefit of the recording is you can rewind and re-watch parts as needed.
3. Email your supporting coordinator once you have successfully completed the session, attaching the following:
a. copy of the completed scenario question sheet
b. the questions and/or comments you noted while watching the recording.
As this is remote learning session, it is an expectation that your coordinator will have a follow up conversation with you about your learning. The questions you note will be good discussion points with your coordinator as you reflect on your learning and ask the questions not answered during the recording. This is also an opportunity for you to talk through the health needs of any children you know about.
4. Your coordinator will make a time to go through your questions with you by either phone or during your next scheduled support visit.
5. On completion of your successful learning outcomes assessed on your follow up visit/conversation with your coordinator you will be issued a certificate of participation.
6. Congratulations on completing the supporting children’s health care needs in FDC & RCP session. Regular updates will be provided for you to maintain current knowledge to support children’s health needs.
To access the forms from this training, see Medical Management forms if you are a FDC educator, or RCP webpage for care providers.
