Civics for All

Curriculum Guides

The K12 Civics for All curriculum was designed to provide high-quality civic learning opportunities to all students. The curriculum was designed as a companion to the Passport to Social Studies and integrated aspects of the NYSED Social Studies Framework’s Civic Participation Standards and the Next Generation Learning Standards. It was designed to be flexible enough to implement in a variety of settings and can be modified and adapted to fit the needs of all New York City classrooms. Each grade banded curriculum is split into four sections that unfold over two separate parts. The first and second sections provide guidance for teachers and administrators on quality civics instruction. Section three organizes a series of lessons and projects around key civic themes, and the fourth section provides grade-band appropriate activities to engage students in civic action projects.
