Summer Rising 2024
Dear SISCL Parents and Guardians,
We are happy to announce that Summer Rising WILL take place at our School, The Staten Island School of Civic Leadership – P.S. 861, this Summer 2024!
NEW: If you have already applied to other schools and would like to edit your first choice to P.S. 861 by March 25th:
- Please login into your MySchools account and search programs. We are listed as:
o For Elementary K-5 Students - Summer Rising at 280 REGIS DRIVE (Mariner's Harbor-Arlington-Port Ivory-Graniteville) with United Activities Unlimited, Inc. (from P.S. 044 Thomas C. Brown, K-5) - R861SR2
o For Middle School 5-8 Students - Summer Rising at 280 REGIS DRIVE (Mariner's Harbor-Arlington-Port Ivory-Graniteville) with New York Center for Interpersonal Development Inc (from Staten Island School of Civic Leadership, 6-8) - R861SR1
- Add P.S. 861 to your application and place our site in the order of your preference.
- Resubmit you application to confirm your changes.
- You should receive a confirmation email confirming your application was resubmitted.
If you have not applied to Summer Rising yet and would like to apply now that we are an OPEN site by March 25th:

About Summer Rising:
- Summer Rising is available to all current Kindergarten through current 8th grade students
- K-5 Summer Rising will run July 2 – August 8: Monday – Thursday from 8:00am – 4:00pm
- 6-8 Summer Rising will run July 2 – August 16: Monday – Friday from 8:00 – 6:00pm
- Students will be provided with free breakfast and lunch
- Programming will include academics led by NYC Public School staff and enrichment activities held by DYCD Community Based Organizations (CBOs)
How To Register:
- This year registration will take place through your MySchools account at https://www.myschools.nyc/en/
o The registration window is open until March 25, 2024
o Spaces are limited and are selected through lottery.
§ You must list your program choices in the order you would like them.
§ You should put P.S. 861 first to secure a spot at our school.
§ You may apply to as many programs as you would like to increase your chances of acceptance.
o Parents must register elementary aged and middle school ages siblings separately. However, if your children are in the same age group, you can link them as siblings.
o 5th Grade students have the ability to apply to elementary school programs AND middle school programs at a parents discretion.
o If you have a MySchools account, login and register your child/children accordingly.
o If you need to create a MySchools account, you will need your email address, your child’s 9-digit student ID number and a MySchools account creation code, which you can get by contacting our Parent Coordinator, Helen Larino, at hlarino2@schools.nyc.gov with your name, child’s name, and contact number.
o Summer Rising acceptance announcements are expected to be release mid – April
