Hour of Code 2023
Each year millions of students of all ages in over 180 countries take part in an Hour of Code activity - a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science and demystify “code” to show that anybody can learn the basics.
This year, teachers and students in grades 6-8 can choose one or more of the three activities below.
Scratch
Activity One: Memory
To begin, open Part 1 of Ms. Blanchard’s instructional video here: Memory Part 1
Open a new tab or window and open Scratch.
Watch the video, follow the instructions, and create your own Memory game.
When you are done with Part 1, continue to Part 2: Memory Part 2.
Finally Part 3: Memory Part 3.

Open a new tab or window and open Scratch.
Watch the video, follow the instructions, and create your own Clickable Game.

Dash and Dot
Activity Three: Dash Helps the Environment
Turn Dash on and put it on the floor.
On the iPad, find and open the Blockly app.
Make sure Dash is connected (top right corner).
Select the default profile.
Select Puzzles.
Select the first puzzle.
Complete the activities in driving school until you are coding confidently with Dash.
When you are confident return to the main menu (top left corner).
Select create new project.
Name your project Dash Helps the Environment and select create. Follow the directions below.
