The College and Career Advising and Awareness Credential Catalog supports NYC Public Schools staff and school-based partners in delivering high-quality college and career advising to students across their school communities. Professional learning opportunities are designed to strengthen advising practices, support implementation of the Career Navigation Roadmap, and connect advising to the goals of the Portrait of a Graduate / NY Inspires framework.
Advising & Awareness Credential: Staff who complete 20 hours of eligible coursework by May 21, 2027 will receive an Advising & Awareness Credential from the Office of Student Pathways. The credential recognizes staff for completing NYC Public Schools professional learning designed to strengthen high-quality, current college and career advising practices.
School Expectation: All schools receiving funding through College and Career Advising and Perkins SAM are required to designate at least one school-based staff member for every 500 students enrolled to earn and maintain the Advising and Awareness Credential. School-based personnel serve as the primary credential holders responsible for meeting credential requirements. School-based CBO partners may also participate in training in a secondary capacity but do not count toward meeting the credential requirement. Please note that the credential is awarded to the individual staff member and follows them if they leave the school.
Per Session: Per Session: Eligible staff may be able to participate in centrally funded per-session opportunities associated with the Advising & Awareness Credential. Please review the Advising & Awareness FAQs for current eligibility, participation requirements, and per-session guidance.
Course Format: Virtual, with sessions offered during and after the school day.
Course Offerings/Registration: Beginning September 15, 2026, staff can review available offerings and registration information in the 2026–27 College and Career Advising and Awareness Credential Catalog.
Pro-Learner: Virtual sessions are hosted in Pro-Learner. Participating staff should create and verify a Pro-Learner account before registering for sessions.
