Descartes work was largely appreciated after his death, unfortunately. However, he still left his mark in the world of Philosophy. He is widely referred to as the "father of modern philosophy" because of him being one of the first major people to be apart of the known movement in philosophy of rationalism. He had believed in attaining knowledge and understanding the world did not call for experience, rather with pure reason(ing). This is highly supported in his very famous piece "Meditations on First Philosophy" where he displays rationalism through expressing and addressing his theories in regards and response to "Discourse on Method" which included his famous quote of "I think, therefore I am." and how one's mind and body are separate.
