My group chose the topic of Renaissance literature/writers because writing is a form of art is one of the most effective and common ways humanity can communicate with one another. Renaissance writers was also an example topic listed on an NHD slideshow given by our teacher, so that's where we initially got the idea from. We decided to present our work using a website and split the work between the members by having each person focus, research, and write about one writer.
To start our research, we first decided to create a rough draft of ideas and sub-topics we wanted to include in our final website. After filling out our draft, we decided to conduct more in depth research in order to be able to expand on our ideas and thoughts present in the draft. After that, we all mainly worked on our own sections. To ensure the validity of our information, we went through a plethora of primary and secondary resources which can be found on our annotated bibliography. These resources included websites, photographs, scripts, and books. These sources greatly helped us understand the topic deeply and provide accurate information. Shakespeare’s scripts and More’s Utopia are examples of important sources which gave us a better understanding of our topic and chosen writer.
We chose to present our topic in the form of a website. We chose to do this because websites are generally very well organized, so presenting our topic and our ideas would not be challenging. Furthermore, websites give us the opportunity to utilize photographs in order to give the readers a better understanding and a better experience. By using photographs, our work also became more visually appealing. We built our website using Google Sites, which was recommended by our teacher. The construction itself was very easy and straightforward.
Our topic relates to the theme of communication because people have always presented new and important ideas through literature and writing. Influential writers often express their emotions through the use of words. These writers are also responsible for communication in our everyday lives. Renaissance figures such as Shakespeare prove that literature is one of the best and functional ways to spread ideas to the public. Their influences on the English language and literary genres prove that their impact runs deep, and methods of communication in the present times would not be the same without Renaissance writers.
