Purpose of the student lounge:
To promote positivity and kindness within the school community. Students will earn “paw chips” (laminated paws) that teachers can hand out to students that meet the criteria of positivity, kindness, going above expectations, helping others, being involved in school related activities, actions that make a difference in someone’s life; also includes student shout outs. There will be a nomination box set up in the main office in which students can nominate the peers that deserve to be recognized.
How the students took action 2022:
Students in Civics Club took action on the Participatory Budget Project presented by Civics for All initiative. The students paired up in groups to generate ideas that they were passionate about. They categorized their ideas and each group created proposals. The proposals were introduced to the student body. The student body voted on 5 different projects. The student lounge was voted upon and won by a substantial amount of votes. The winning project was awarded $2,700 to make the project come to fruition. The Civics club has been working hard to order supplies, plan the layout, create a code of conduct, and organize the logistics of the lounge.
