The idea of a “soapbox” came about in the 19th century as people would use boxes to stand on to make speeches around issues they wanted to see change. Today, if “someone is getting on their soapbox” it means that they are talking about a topic or issue in the world that they are passionate about.
Now you have an opportunity to “get up on your soapbox” and respond to the prompt...
"what is a significant issue impacting you, as a young adult, and your community and what should be done about it?"
Audition with Mrs. Coogan by 11/19 to "GET ON YOUR SOAPBOX" and speak about an issue that significantly impacts YOU and your community.
Speeches must be approximately 2 minutes long!
