Grading Policy:
Formal Assessments (40%)
Formal assessments include a variety of assignments such as unit or module tests/exams, end of unit projects and comprehensive writing assignments which use a NYS Assessment Rubric (two or four-point).
Classes that meet daily require a minimum of 3 formal assessments to be included in the average of each marking period.
Classes that meet 2-3 times per week require a minimum of 2 formal assessments to be included in the average of each marking period.
Classwork (40%)
Classwork includes a variety of assignments such as do-now, exit tickets, short responses which use a NYS Assessment Rubric (two point), quizzes, group work, in-class tasks, peer assessments and self-assessments.
Classes that meet daily require a minimum of 12 classwork grades to be included in the average of each marking period.
Classes that meet 2-3 times per week require a minimum of 6 classwork grades to be included in the average of each marking period.
Extension work - Project Based Learning Tasks (20%)
Extension Project Based Learning Tasks include a variety of multiple oral proficiency tasks such as multi-media presentations, end of unit projects, discussion participation, podcasts, speech and debates.
Classes that meet daily require a minimum of 6 Extension Project Based Learning Tasks grades to be included in the average of each marking period.
Classes that meet 2-3 times per week require a minimum of 3 classwork grades to be included in the average of each marking period.
