2025-2026 Internet-enabled Electronic Device Policy
In accordance with the Chancellors Regulations A- 413
Cell phone policy: Students are permitted to bring cell phones to school, however all cell phones must be off and placed in each student’s Cyber Pouch.
I agree to:
Follow all rules in the Chancellors A- 413 Regulation of the Chancellor and the NYC DOE Discipline Code.
Obey Marine Park Junior High School 278’s policy about cell phones and other electronic devices.
Refrain from using cell phones during school testing; or any opportunity to cheat.
Not take photos of other students, staff and School Safety Agents.
Uphold respect and cooperate when advised by staff to turn off or hand over a cell phone.
Never use a cell phone or iPad to text, embarrass, bully, threaten and or intimidate others.
I Understand:
My school is not responsible for stolen, lost or damaged cell phones or iPads.
I assume all responsibility for my cell phone during school.
All phone calls can be made by the request of a student in the main office if a parent/guardian needs to be contacted.
Students who violate the cell phone policies above will have their phone confiscated, in accordance with the protocol set forth below:
First occurrence: Cell phone is confiscated by authorized school personnel and then returned to the student at the end of day.
Second occurrence: Cell phone is confiscated by authorized school personnel, the cell phone will be returned to the student following a meeting with a school administrator at the end of the day. Parents will be notified of their child’s second occurrence.
Third occurrence: Cell phone is confiscated, and the parent/guardian is responsible for picking up the phone at the end of the school day and each day after will be required to turn in their devices in to the staff in the General Office upon arrival to school.
Students who refuse to use their Cyber Pouch or who lose their Cyber Pouch repeatedly will be required to turn their devices in to staff in the General Office upon arrival.
