LIBRARY NEWS
Students came to school dressed as their favorite characters, creatures, and food items for Halloween! Such creativity!
The library continues to be a busy and buzzing place before, during, and after school. A record number of books have been checked out this year, surpassing previous years. Students are interested in books, exploring the shelves, talking about books, recommending books, reading on their free periods, borrowing books to take home.
There are also more student library helpers this year than ever. Any and all students are invited to learn more about volunteering in the library. Students support the daily work of the library by scanning, shelving, and organizing books, creating displays, creating signs and bookmarks, organizing library resources, helping fellow students, helping to plan upcoming library orientations.
There is a lot to engage students in the library, including an informational banned books display, featured books by Native American authors, and a cart of cozy books for cool weather reading. There is plenty of comfortable furniture plus desktop computers, printers, school and art supplies, puzzles, and games.
I am available to help students find print and digital reading materials, direct them to reliable resources, and support their schoolwork. Additionally, this fall I have been visiting classes to teach research and information literacy lessons and show students how to access information in library databases. I am in the library to help student researchers every step of the way!
