The new Midwood Jazz Band Club ("The Swingin' Hornets") is a student-organized "big-band" style jazz performing ensemble that meets after-school in the back band room (B19). A goal of the club is to provide a creative space for students to improve their playing skills in a jazz style and take part in performing and organizing music-centered events. To date, the band has performed at Midwood at Latin Fest 2025, Midwood Open House, a concert preview performance in the Midwood lobby, the 2025 Winter Band Concert, and Asian Fest 2026. Upcoming performances include Caribbean Fest 2026 and the Spring Concert.

Midwood Students who are interested in jazz and play any instrument (including guitar and bass) are encouraged to get involved by completing the Jazz Band Club Interest Form.
