Hello! Welcome to the google sites created by the students of School 21 (Y9) who took part in the elective: 'Games 21'. This website will showcase all the articles the students wrote throughout the whole term. The main question for all the articles is: 'What Effects Do Video Games Have On Teenagers Today?'
Throughout the term, we learnt about different types of video game styles, dynamics, aesthetics, functions and genres. Using that information, we had to answer questions and make our own game reviews, design our own game and write articles. The main question of the elective was: 'What Effects Do Video Games Have On Teenagers Today?'. Using the main questions, we thought of many different sub-questions that linked with that theme. All the articles answer those sub-questions and help give the reader a deeper understanding of the gaming industry towards teenagers. The articles are targeted to everyone, but mostly to adults who want to read about the different aspects of gaming and what video games can do to teenagers (good and bad). All of the articles are linked in the different sections (hover over the 'Home' tab above) if you want to read them!
In the elective, we had a chance to talk to one of the staff members over at Payload Studios - Khally Saarman-Jones (HR and Facilities Manager). She told us all about working for a video game company and the different types of careers there are within the gaming industry: from programming, testing out games and thinking of new ideas. A lot of the students also got feedback on their articles from a staff member from Payload Studios, which really helped us create the best articles we can make.
