What is a Makerspace?
The CCI library Makerspace is a vibrant, hands-on creative hub where students are encouraged to explore, express, and expand their learning! This space offers opportunities to engage in activities such as painting, watercolour, crochet, beading, tie-dye and more! We also offer opportunities to explore a variety of STEM activities, including 3D printing, micro: bits and more!
By providing access to a variety of materials and tools, the Makerspace fosters imagination, skill building, and personal expression. It’s a welcoming environment where students can collaborate, experiment, and bring their ideas to life—enhancing their educational journey through creativity and connection.

This year, we are going to try something NEW! Every month, we will have two or three activities available in the Makerspace ALL MONTH LONG!
Students can try any of these activities throughout the month (at lunch, on their spare or after school). Instructions for each activity will be provided at each station (usually through a QR code) so they can be done individually, OR you can come out to MAKER MONDAY to hang out with others and learn together!

Every month, we will run special Makerspace workshops to recognize, honour and celebrate important days of awareness, holidays, celebrations and more!
For example:- September - We honour the National Day of Truth & Reconciliation with a special Orange shirt activity!
- December - We host some fun holiday-themed workshops!
- February - We celebrate Black History Month!
- March - We will celebrate Holi and try spice painting!
Makerspace Night
Makerspace Night
In 2025, we hosted our first MAKERSPACE MAGIC event, and it was a big success! Our dream is to make this an annual event that invites students and their families to come learn, create and connect with us! We will have several free stations and activities for you to try.

- Crochetting
- Colouring
- Jewellery making
- Micro: bits and robotics!
