Welcome to The Brilliance Exchange Program!
A groundbreaking opportunity for students across Colorado to showcase their talents, receive expert mentorship, and gain formal recognition for gifted identification. Through innovative project-based learning and professional feedback, students will engage in a transformative experience that highlights their unique abilities.

Donations for the The Brilliance Exchange Program or the presentation day will support our students who represent rural and urban areas of Colorado. Donations will go towards transportation for our students to attend, programming and event space. Every dollar counts!

Students in 14 targeted school districts throughout Colorado will participate in The Brilliance Exchange Program that includes four months of professional guidance and mentorship from industry professionals, a performance assessment judging event and ongoing support for their schools. Students will choose a category to create their project topic (see categories) that connects to their culture and the chosen category. Professional experts and college students in each category will guide our students through three iterations of feedback and revisions before the final competition on October 8, 2026. Community members, professionals and SCDEP partners all come together to support our students in their projects.

Community partners, educators and funders have a unique opportunity to experience the brilliance of our students and our organization by immersing themselves in programming throughout the day. Activities also include learning more about the state of gifted education where more than half of underrepresented students are missing from gifted education and how we are shifting gifted identification. After the formal event, we will celebrate our day of impact with a networking and mingle event, presenting our impact to the community.

Why this Event Matters

Due to restraints on funding and personnel, many schools don’t have the bandwidth to support additional efforts in formally identifying students for gifted education beyond cognitive and state tests. In educational psychology, we know that for several reasons, sometimes students do not demonstrate their full potential in tests alone. In gifted education, there is a collection of data called the Body of Evidence that encompasses quantitative and qualitative data. Some of the qualitative data can be recommendations from teachers, parents, community members, coaches, etc., evidence of work completed by the student, and judging events. Through The Brilliance Exchange Program, students will meet this criteria through participating in a *Performance Assessment that will be a formal qualitative data point to support in their identification.
