Online Learning Tools

Your teacher may use one or more of the tools below to communicate with your child.

For mor information about our technology tools, check out our IT Parent Resources Page!

Google Meet is a video conferencing tool, similar to Zoom. We are in the process of transitioning to Google Meet because it is more secure and uses much less bandwidth resulting in fewer dropped calls. Your child's teacher will share their link with your child via Seesaw or Google Classroom so that your child can join in the lessons and activities with their classmates each week. They just need to click on the link and they'll be in the Google Meeting space.

Zoom

Zoom is a tool we are using to engage our students in whole class conversations and connections with their teacher and each others. Teachers may use Zoom for a whole class check-in, class meeting, circle, read aloud, etc. Teachers will send students a link to a Zoom meeting and students just need to click on the link to join the Zoom meeting.

Video Conferencing Etiquette

  • Check in to make sure everyone has the opportunity to participate.

  • Before you speak, say your name so we know who is speaking.

  • Watch your air time!

  • Remember, people can see you and what’s behind you if your camera is on.

  • Be respectful of others.

  • Others can hear you if you have your microphone on.

  • Mute your microphone if there is background noise in your space.

  • Use headphones, if desired, to reduce background noise. (If headphones are a financial barrier, contact your child’s counselor.)

  • Take advantage of the chat feature to ask questions and make comments.

  • Virtual backgrounds can be used if you don’t want to display your home area.

  • Families can request audio-only.

  • Families can choose to not show the child’s image.

  • Creating a sign that says “In Class” for your door can help communicate to your family that you are on a call.

Seesaw

Seesaw is a platform for student engagement. Teachers can empower students to create, reflect, share, and collaborate. Students “show what they know” using photos, videos, drawings, text, PDFs, and links. It’s simple to get student work in one place and share with families, and nothing is shared without teacher approval

Seesaw Activities

Your child's teacher may make Seesaw Activities available to your child in his/her Seesaw account. Here's a quick video that shows how your child can respond to these activities.

Google Classroom

Google Classroom is a streamlined, easy-to-use tool that helps teachers manage coursework. With Classroom, educators can create classes, distribute assignments, grade and send feedback, and see everything in one place. Google Classroom can only be accessed by students and teachers.
