Course Number: 922 Meeting Times: 4 days/week, 1 semester/half year

Credits: 1/2 Grades: 10-12 Prerequisite: Intro to Engineering OR Human Centered Design

Course Description

Students utilize the design process to create solutions for others while learning basic woodworking skills using both hand and power tools. A focus is placed on teamwork, self reflection and communication of their process and results through presentations and informal pitches. Students apply their skills to a capstone project. Prerequisite: Human Centered Design or Introduction to Engineering

Curriculum At A Glance

Students learn the basics of woodworking, including safety in the woodshop. Students create both personal passion projects and items that are used by the community. These range from picnic tables for the high school during the pandemic to increase outdoor seating, to simple objects for a special education elementary classroom. See below for examples.
