Course Number: 922 Meeting Times: 4 days/week, 1 semester/half year
Credits: 1/2 Grades: 10-12 Prerequisite: Intro to Engineering, Human Centered Design, OR Comp Sci
This course provides an introduction to mobile app development and design thinking. Students will learn the basics of app development and then use design thinking to identify a real need that an app could solve. Following the design thinking process, students will prototype, test and reiterate their designs, culminating in the wire-framing of their app.
The course focuses on both design and coding of apps. Students learn the basics of coding in Xcode/Swift, as well as learning the principles of app design through articles, videos and hands-on activities. Second quarter is spent designing an app of the student's choice resulting in an app that can be deployed to an iPhone.
