The Fifth Grade social studies curriculum includes several units of study with an emphasis on research, collaboration, forming/presenting opinions, and critical analysis of information. Students reflect on historical events from multiple perspectives and participate in discussions.
We cover the following social studies units in fifth grade:
The Making of a Government & U.S. Constitution
Immigration
Capstone Research Project
Since June 2015, students have been giving TED Talk or Ignite presentations for their final Capstone share, in lieu of the traditional tri-fold board.
"One can shape history as much through the facts one omits as through the facts one includes."
