Reading

A love for reading is nurtured in fifth grade. Each class' extensive book collection has been carefully and lovingly curated to include beloved authors/titles as well as current titles and formats, such as graphic novels. 

Our reading units meet the Next Generation ELA Learning Standards that were adopted in 2017. 

Fifth grade reading units include:

• Interpretation Book Clubs

• Nonfiction

• Eve Bunting Author Study

• Argument and Advocacy: Researching Debatable Issues

• Poetry

• Fantasy Book Clubs
