Social Studies

Third grade social studies units explore the concepts of history, cultural universals and geography. Teachers work closely with the computer teachers, librarians and other specialists to integrate social studies with language arts, music, art, and technology to extend the children's understanding. The students gather information from a mixture of sources and use that information to learn, reflect, and connect times past with the present. Students use a variety of resources including fiction, non-fiction and poetry as well as primary sources including interviews, maps, documents, photographs, and artifacts.
