ELA

Our balanced literacy program includes a combination of whole group, small group and 1:1 instruction in reading, writing, speaking, and listening with the strongest research-based elements of each.  Our main goal is to guide our students toward proficient and lifelong reading and communication.

Reading Workshop:

Reading workshop is an important part of the balanced literacy program. It helps build a community of readers by providing explicit instruction, teacher support, collaboration with peers, and opportunities for independent reading.

The Writing Process:

Writing workshop is a place where students learn the many ways in which writing plays a role in their lives. Students are encouraged to find their voice and creativity through mentor texts, personal experiences, and writing partnerships. Writing workshop allows for student choice, skill development, guidance, and feedback from teachers and peers.
