"Bonus" Evening STEM Exploration #2: STEM "Catch Up Session" Tue. 4/6 6:45-7:30 PM Mars Rover "7 Minutes of Terror" Parachute Landing Challenge! Students will continue to explore the innovation + physics + engineering behind the Feb. 2021 "Perseverance" Mars Rover landing on Mars! As the spacecraft containing "Perseverance" approached the Martian atmosphere it had 7 minutes to slow down from 12,000 mph to 20 mph for a safe landing. In order to achieve this feat, NASA Engineers deployed the largest supersonic parachute ever used! STEM students will learn about the mechanics of parachutes and the physics behind their function in order to engineer their own Mars "Perseverance" Rover parachute that can successfully land its' load (marble, legos, any small item etc.) from increasing heights! "Evening Bonus STEM Lab" ZOOM ID: 598 733 0820
