Shifts in Common Core have made the ELD Standards shift as well. Meet up to learn about the key shifts in the way we instruct and monitor our Emerging Multilingual Learners (EML) and plan for English Language Development (ELD) to align with what we teach all students every day.

Develop units of study alongside PLCs to elicit targeted, measurable, language production.

Provide direct technical assistance and instructional support to classroom teachers to facilitate strategic planning, curriculum enhancements, and development in support of district priorities and results.

Language acquisition and ELD practices that best serve the instruction of students at all levels (GATE to Emerging Learners).

ELD strategies for working with individuals and groups within the academic instructional day.

Informal Observation and Formative Feedback

Inspire student success through GLAD strategies that scaffold increasing rigor and academic literacy.

Identify and problem solve instructional issues in support of district priorities and results.

Staff Development

Walking the walls at the school site is a way to contextualize language themes within the context of the classroom.

Work with school sites PLCs to inform instruction vertically.

Work with district wide and site based -Grade Level PLCs to adapted, modify instruction for improved access for all students.

Analyzing Assessment Data

  • Utilize the EL Profile to create individual profiles to monitor linguistic progress along a multi-year continuum.
  • Learn how to use the ADEPT for formative feedback.
  • Monitor school progress towards achievement of the district goals through review and analysis of data to ensure all decisions and program implementations are evidence based.

Family Engagement Liaisons

We have three Family Engagement Unit Liaisons.

Work with families, DELAC, and Administrators to connect them to services.

Share knowledge of culture, lifestyles, educational and social needs of families through Cafecitos, Latino Literacy Project, and more.
