This year, 7th and 8th grade students have the exciting opportunity to participate in CMU Music Fest as soloists! This is a voluntary experience for choir members who want to grow as individual singers.
Students who choose to participate will:
Prepare 1–2 solo songs to perform in front of a judge.
Choose from music books provided by the choir teacher (songs may be in English or Italian).
Receive a rating from the judge: Exemplary, Outstanding, Satisfactory, Developing, or Ineffective.
Practice Commitment
Participants will need to commit to at least one 15-minute practice session per week with the choir teacher during January and February.
Performance Day
Solos will be performed the same day the choirs perform at CMU Music Fest, but in a different location.
Tips for Solo Success
Practice regularly—not just during school!
Memorize your lyrics early so you can focus on expression.
Warm up your voice before singing.
Think about your song’s story—connect with the emotions.
Sing with confidence and enjoy the moment!
This is a wonderful way to challenge yourself, improve your skills, and share your music with others.
