6th Grade Honor Choir is a special opportunity for students to sing alongside other 6th graders from across Northeast Missouri, forming a large choir of over 300 voices.
Due to event limitations, only 30 sixth-grade students from our school will be selected to participate. Auditions for these spots will take place at the beginning of March.
Honor Choir members are selected based on several factors, including their audition score and maintaining an appropriate balance of voice parts within the group. Each student is scored individually during the audition process, and unfortunately, not every student who auditions can be selected.
Students who are chosen will join approximately 300 other singers for a full day of rehearsal and music-making. During this event, students will work with a guest conductor, gaining valuable experience performing in a large ensemble and learning from a new musical leader.
Auditions are designed to be simple and low-stress while giving each student a chance to show their abilities. During the audition, students will be asked to sing a familiar choir song and record themselves on their Chromebook during class.
Each student auditions individually and is scored using a rubric. Students are evaluated on accuracy, tone, effort, and overall musicality.
We encourage all interested students to audition! Even if a student is not selected, the experience is a great way to grow as a singer and become more confident for future opportunities.
