Beginning this 2026-2027 school year, New Jersey law requires every public school district to adopt a bell-to-bell policy restricting student use of personal internet-enabled devices during the entire school day. The law is intended to reduce distractions, improve student learning, and promote a safer school environment. Additional information is available in the New Jersey Department of Education's Guidance for Schools on Student Use of Internet-Enabled Devices.Â
To support a safe, focused, and distraction-free learning environment, students may not use personal internet-enabled devices, including cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, earbuds, or similar devices, during the school day at Saddle Brook High School. This includes class time, passing periods, and lunch. Only district-issued devices may be used for instructional purposes when directed by staff.
If students bring a personal internet-enabled device to school, it must remain powered off and stored in accordance with school procedures. The district is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal devices.
Parents/guardians who need to contact a student during the school day should call the Main Office or email their student. School staff will relay important messages to students as appropriate. Students leaving campus for an approved open lunch, internship, or other authorized activity may use their devices while off school grounds but must store them again upon returning to campus.
Students are expected to follow this policy at all times. Violations may result in disciplinary action in accordance with the district's Cell Phone Infraction Chart and Regulation 5516.
