Class Description
Beginning Journalism is a prerequisite class to Echoes and Bluff for students who are interested in being a member of the newspaper or the yearbook. Beginning Journalism teaches the importance of the press, the history of journalism, how to write newspaper articles, photography, yearbook design, and much more. For any students who are interested in the intriquing and engaging job of being a member of the press in their future, Beginning Journalism is an excellent place to learn fundamental skills required in the profession. Students in Beginning Journalism learn to use fundamental technology such as inDesign and photoshop, which will give students leg up in the graphic design or journalism industry. In Beginning Journalism, students engage in current events, learn to identify fake news, and understand the importance of the press on our democracy. Beginning Journalism teaches real life skills such as writing, editing, interviewing, note taking, designing, working with a team, and meeting deadlines.
