Class Description
This is an intermediate course designed to further guide students in the discovery of nutrient value, appetite appeal, social significance and the cultural aspects of food and eating. Food preparation, nutrition, meal management, and culinary skills will be emphasized throughout the course. Kitchen safety, food sanitation and proper use and understanding of equipment will be studied and demonstrated. Etiquette, menu planning, costs and consumer responsibility will also be explored. Students will spend time exploring world cuisine and food preparation.
Each student will have the opportunity to earn a professional certification in ServSafe as a certified Food Handler through this course.
