Tuesday, February 13th, 2024, the Arlington Theater hosts seven veteran screenwriters for a group discussion. CHLOE & IRIS (along with CASSIE, SBMS literature buff & school librarian) strike pay dirt at the newly elevated (meaning, now an evening event, replete with red carpet) WRITERS PANEL. The TEEN PRESS reporters get their minds blown and horizons expanded while interviewing 5 of the 7 panelists, all of whom are Oscar nominees for either adapted or original screenplays. They also get to interact with up-and-coming filmmakers on the red carpet.
IRIS & CHLOE chat with a friendly CORD JEFFERSON, the writer of "American Fiction".
IRIS & CHLOE have a discussion with a very thoughtful and charming DAVID HEMINGSON about writing and his film "The Holdovers".
Here the gals get some time with playwright, director, and screenwriter, CELINE SONG, talking about her film "Past Lives".
ARTHUR HARARI, the co-writer of "Anatomy of a Fall", and partner of the other co-writer (and director), JUSTINE TRIET, misses an intro moment, but CHLOE & IRIS keep going...
IRIS & CHLOE get to interview the first of the panelists, TONY McNAMARA, screenwriter of the film "Poor Things".
IRIS & CHLOE chat with JESSIE DAVIDSON, the director, and TREY BETTS, the cinematographer, of the film "Nine Lives", featured in the Santa Barbara Short Documentary program.
IRIS & CHLOE speak with the producer and director of the documentary "Ashima", about a young climber, MINJI CHANG & KENJI TSUKAMOTO.
Teen Press reporters CHLOE & IRIS introduce the evening, and tease a sample of their panelist screenwriter interviews.
