Fostering International Collaboration for Educational Advancement
St. Bernadette of Lourdes College proudly demonstrated our dedication to Sustainable Development Goal 1 by participating in a significant Signing Ceremony with Indonesian Schools on September 28, 2023. We formalized partnerships with five esteemed institutions: Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kesehatan (STIKes) Rajekwesi Bojonegoro, STIKES Karta Husada Kediri, STIKES Dian Husada, STIKES Mojokerto, and STIKES Musada Jombang. This collaboration reflects our active participation in regional policy initiatives aimed at strengthening joint efforts to reduce poverty through education and sustainable development. We commit to SDG 1 by extending our reach beyond local borders, recognizing that poverty is a transnational issue. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with these Indonesian schools is key to driving transformative change, not just in the educational landscape of our own institution but also across our partner schools, fostering mutual growth and capacity-building to tackle socio-economic challenges.
This international partnership holds particular benefits for our students, especially those from lower-income families. By expanding our network and forging connections with foreign universities, we are providing opportunities for academic exchange, joint research, and the sharing of best practices that were previously unavailable. These experiences expose our students to diverse perspectives, broaden their skill sets, and enhance the global competitiveness of their education without the prohibitive cost typically associated with studying abroad. For a student from a lower-income background, a degree that includes international exposure and globally relevant skills significantly increases their chances of securing better, higher-paying jobs after studies. This enhanced employability is a direct, robust mechanism for breaking the cycle of poverty within their families.
The overall goal of SBLC and our partner Indonesian Schools in pursuing this international alliance is to significantly amplify our contribution to poverty reduction through high-quality, internationally benchmarked education. By collaborating with these Indonesian institutions, we are pooling resources and knowledge to develop and implement educational programs that are more relevant, impactful, and aligned with global standards of sustainable development. By creating an environment where academic excellence transcends national boundaries, we are producing graduates who are not only well educated but also globally aware, ethically responsible agents of change. This shared vision for educational advancement directly supports the long-term goal of eradicating extreme poverty by creating a more skilled, interconnected, and economically resilient regional workforce.
