A CV is an employers first impression of your skills, attributes, academic learning's and any relevant experience you have for the job you are applying for.
The purpose of your cover letter is to give an employers a brief insight to why you would be a good fit for their company.
Your references are people who can vouch for you. It's important you include contact details of your references and ensure they know you are applying for a job.

Important Documentation
When starting a job, there are some important steps you need to take.
Bank Account
If you haven't got one already, you will need to set up a bank account so you can be paid. If you are moving into tertiary education, many banks have specialised accounts designed especially for students.
IRD Number
You will need to ensure you have an IRD number. Your IRD number identifies you for all the tax related events in your life. Your IRD number is unique to you, and you keep the same IRD number for life.
You will also need an IRD number to be able to get a student loan.
KiwiSaver
KiwiSaver is a voluntary retirement savings scheme to help you save for your future. If can also be used towards the purchase of your first home. Because KiwiSaver is optional, you have to make a decision to opt in. You can choose to contribute anywhere from 3% - 10% of your paycheck.

Drivers Licence
Many employers will expect you to have a drivers licence and as an added bonus you can earn NCEA level 1 and level 2 credits for passing your driving tests.
