Dr. M. Murphy, M.Sc., Ph.D.

    He received his B.Sc., Degree in Chemistry, (2012) at Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College (Autonomous), Chennai, TN, India. affiliated to Madras University, Also, he received his M.Sc., Degree in Chemistry, (2014) at Loyola College (Autonomous), Chennai, TN, India. affiliated to Madras University. He received his Ph.D. Degree at Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, TN, India. Currently he worked as Assistant Professor in Chemistry (Dec 2021 to till date) at Saveetha School of Engineering (SIMATS), Thandalam, Chennai.

Professional Experience

He worked in both NBA & NAAC criteria and also In-charge of Singing Club and other clubs monitor at Saveetha School of Engineering. He worked as Project Assistant (PA) from DBT-BioCARe project on “Design and Development of Highly Versatile Electrochemical Biosensors Based on Enzyme Functionalized Ionic Liquids” sanction no. (BT/Bio-CARe/05/9784/2013-14) under the supervision of Dr. K. Thenmozhi & Dr. S. Senthilkumar, at VIT-Vellore from August 2015 to December 2018. He worked as Assisted Engineering Chemistry Lab experiments during 2014-2015 as Teaching cum Research Assistant (TRA) in VIT-Vellore.

Awards and Fellowship

He received Best Faculty in “Outstanding Teaching Faculty” at AGNITO-2023 conducted by SIMATS, Received Best Faculty in two categories “Most Punctual Faculty & Most Workaholic Faculty” at AGNITO-2022 conducted by SIMATS. Won the “Best Poster Presentation Award” at the “International Conference on Electrochemistry in Industry, Health and Environment (EIHE-2020)”, Organized by Indian Society of Electroanalytical Chemistry (ISEAC) at BARC, Mumbai during 21-25, January 2020. Also received various awards in sports & extra curricula activities.

Research Works

Synthesis of various functionalized ionic liquids, redox based metal complexes, synthesis of metal nanoparticles, for covalent immobilization of electrochemical sensors & biosensors.
