Environmental Science provides students with the scientific principles, concepts, and methodologies required to understand the interrelationships of the natural world, identify and analyze environmental problems both natural and human-made, evaluate the relative risks associated with these problems, and examine alternative solutions for resolving or preventing them.
Environmental Science is interdisciplinary; it embraces a wide variety of topics from different areas of study, yet there are several major unifying themes. This course includes a strong laboratory and field investigation component. Experiences both in the laboratory and in the field provide students with opportunities to test concepts and principles that are introduced in the classroom. In this class, students gain a broad awareness of environmental science and technological career opportunities.
