This course introduces students to the history, philosophy and major theories of child growth and development. Students will study the physical, emotional and cognitive aspects of development from conception to early adolescence.
In many ways this class is a combination of biology, health and life science curricula. Class discussions, presentations and projects will examine the various influences (biological, hereditary and environmental) that affect the optimal healthy growth.
This course counts as elective credit in high school; it is an articulated course in college. This means that students who receive an “A” or “B” for both semesters will receive “credit by exam” units.
