Kabir's Amma has been in prison since before he was born for a crime she says she did not commit. While Kabir is still in prison with her at the beginning of the book, we get to see their living conditions and hear about some of the flaws in how the facility is run. Once Kabir is released, we learn more about out the judicial system works. On this page, you can read more about the judicial systems and their flaws in both India and the United States.
