4th Grade Teachers

As you all know, my name is Mrs. Coffey. I was born in northern New Hampshire and attended college in Vermont. I have lived in the Mount Washington Valley for over 20 years, and truly love where I live!  Many of you have seen me on the playground or in the hallways at school, as this is my 19th year working here at John Fuller Elementary School. I am proud to work at such a wonderful school with such a fabulous group of students and staff.

My three favorite jobs in life are being a wife, a mom, and a teacher. I have been married for 20 years to my best friend and husband Matt, Mr. Coffey. :)  He is very supportive and always brainstorming, building, and creating new things for my classroom and our school. I am a mom of two amazing boys who also attend John Fuller; I am so lucky to be their mom and watch them grow both in school and at home. As a family we enjoy being outdoors as much as possible and having as many adventures as we can together.  In my free time I enjoy reading, cooking, camping, gardening, and one of my favorite pastimes is running.

As a teacher, I want you to know that my students become part of my “school” family. I think that making connections with students is one of the most important things we can do as educators to help our students. As a class, we spend many hours together creating a learning environment that each child can feel safe, respected, and included. Once students are comfortable in their learning environment, I am fortunate to have the opportunity to watch the growing and learning begin.

From an early age, I have always wanted to be a teacher and help others. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else … I love my job as a teacher and I am excited for a great school year!

Hello! Welcome to 4th grade,  I am so happy you are here!

I started working at John Fuller in 2014! Before teaching 4th grade, I was a Title 1 teacher and then I taught 3rd grade and  2/3 multi age! In 2013, my husband and I decided to move back to Maine after he had served 8 years in the Air Force. During that time, we were stationed in Albuquerque, New Mexico and also Rapid City, South Dakota. In South Dakota I taught Head Start for four years while I worked towards my Master’s degree in Early Childhood Development. When I am not at school, I have a little boy who keeps me VERY busy! I also have a Jack Russell, Hattie, who has lots of energy! As a family, we love to spend time outside. I enjoy running, lifting weights, shopping for house decorations and cooking as my self care activities!

One of my biggest goals for my classroom is that each and every student feels safe, loved, celebrated and included! We work hard to build a classroom family and a place where we all can advocate for what we need or believe. I am so excited to see these learners grow into their own!
